Changing the Boot Screen

The image that is displayed when you boot up Windows XP is hidden in a system file called ntoskrnl.exe. This system file is loaded during the boot and is what displays the image and animation. When users started to make their own boots, they would use hacking tools to hack into the file but this tutorial will let you change it by using a free software downloaded from www.bootskin.com

How to Change the boot with Boootskin

Once you have downloaded the app. Use the link in the start menu under WinCustomize and preform the following steps:

  1. Once you have it running, changing the boot is very simple. Just navigate through the list of skins.,
  2. Once you find a good one, click the item and then click "preview".
  3. Click again to exit the preview. To save that bootskin click "apply".
